At Homestead Funds, it’s easy to make exchanges from one fund to another. Please note that if you are exchanging shares in a regular, taxable account, you may owe income tax as a result of this transaction. That’s because an exchange is processed as a redemption and subsequent purchase. To make an exchange, select the method that’s most convenient for you:
- Online:Log in to your account and click “Exchange” in the quick links menu on the Portfolio Overview page. If you are exchanging shares to a new account, both accounts must be registered the same way. You also must have authorized telephone/online exchange privileges to exchange shares by phone. If you wish to add these privileges, complete the Account Services Form.Account Services Form
- By phone:Call us at 800.258.3030. You must have authorized telephone/online exchange privileges to exchange shares by phone. If you wish to add these privileges, complete the Account Services Form.

Tell us the dollar amount, percent of your account or number of shares you wish to exchange.
If you are exchanging between accounts that are differently registered, your signature on the form or the letter of instruction may need to be Medallion Signature Guaranteed.
